This will be my 7th year participating in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo for short). After last year’s challenges, I said I’d take a break this year … but I couldn’t do it. I’m hooked. The lure is too strong.
It’s not winning–because there’s nothing to “win” other than personal satisfaction and a cool banner for social media–it’s the community that is the draw. There’s nothing like it. People all over the world come together to cheer each other on in this seemingly impossible feat.
For the month of October (also known as Preptober) I’ll be dropping NaNoWriMo-related tasks, challenges, and tidbits on my Facebook Page. If you’ve ever wanted to write a novel, this is the best time to get started! Visit http://nanowrimo.org and sign up. It’s free, fun, and there’s cool merch if you’re into displaying your word-nerdiness.
The first challenge
My first challenge is to figure out WHAT project I’m working on. With the Burned series (still) in revision, I’m feeling the need to work on something completely different for NaNoWriMo.
I have five other projects in various stages of progress, but I’m also considering working on one of two other ideas that have been in the back of my mind for a while. I’ve set today as my deadline to make that decision so I can properly prepare for NaNoWriMo 2019 throughout Preptober.
What about you?
Are you participating in NaNoWriMo 2019? What project are you preparing to work on?
Join me on my facebook page for challenges and chats. We can help each other win this year!
October is on it's way out and my favorite time of year nears--NaNoWriMo!
Yes, that nail-biting, angst-ridden, why-in-hell-did-I-sign-up-for-this-again excitement that is National Novel Writing Month.
It’s official: I’m participating in NaNoWriMo 2016. I can almost hear the groans of my family and friends as they realize that my normal writing-related chatter will increase twenty-fold until the first week of December. Read more…
I might have been a little too ambitious this year. NOT a new thing for me. I excel at unrealistic expectations. It’s my trademark. As the halfway point to November 30th looms ever nearer, I find Read more…
